NIPR Delegation Inspects Site of Varsity Project Scheduled for Commissioning at WPRF

Published on March 9, 2026

The top leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has conducted the inspection of the proposed site where the first University of Public Relations and Leadership (UPRL) in the world will be located.

The project, which is a strategic milestone in positioning the most populous African nation as a hub for global Public Relations education, is scheduled for commissioning November 2026 during the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), a period when the first set of students will be admitted.

President and Chairman of Council, NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku on April 25, 2025, led Council Members and other senior members of the Institute to inspect the 101-hectares choice property in Gudi, donated by the governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule.

Others in the delegation included engineers and environmental experts for a technical evaluation of the site as part of a due diligence process.

Speaking during the inspection, Dr. Neliaku  thanked the governor for the kind gesture, noting that it will be a step further in raising leaders that will drive development in key sectors in Africa and globally.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar reiterated the commitment of the governor to the project, describing it as a giant effort in the state's education sector.

Recall that Nigeria's university regulatory body, the National Universities Commission (NUC) requires a minimum of 100 hectares of land to grant approval for the establishment of a tertiary institution and the 101-hectares proposed for the UPRL meets that requirement.
