The President of Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Prof. Justin Green has stated that Nigeria is the African giant in various spheres of endeavour, including in responsible and ethical practice of public relations, which he said, is exemplified in the quality initiatives and reforms the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has embarked upon to drive relevance in communication ecosystem.
He stated this in a congratulatory message to NIPR for winning the hosting right for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in 2026.
Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management the umbrella body of public relations bodies in the world has over 120 countries in its membership. Green said the win demonstrates Nigeria's strategic role in deepening ethical public relations practice in Africa.
He highlighted that Africa has continued to place itself on global map of public relations through distinctive innovations, with Nigeria championing a new era in the profession.
“Nigeria has proudly positioned itself as truly the giant of Africa in responsible and ethical PR practice, evidently manifested in the innovations it is championing in Africa.
“The keenly contested hosting right for WPRF again brought to fore the bond of brotherhood the country has built with its neighbours, which translated to overwhelming support that helped in winning the bid.
“As a witness to the warmth, hospitality and rich natural endowments of Nigeria and her people, I have no doubt that the 2026 WPRF will be historic as it will also avail us opportunity to launch the University of Public Relations and Leadership (UPRL) the first PR sector-based university in the world that combines PR”, he stated.
Prof. Green urged members of the Alliance across the globe to support Africa as the continent leads the charge in giving PR a pride of place as a profession to reckon with.
