…As Information Minister Reiterates Nigeria's Readiness to Host Forum
In furtherance of his desire for Nigeria to host a successful and spectacular World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in 2026, the President of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, has called for the support of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, in ensuring a secure and peaceful environment for the event.
Neliaku, who made the call on 3rd June, 2025 at an event organized by the Voice of Nigeria (VON) in Abuja, also applauded the security forces for their efforts in ensuring the safety of citizens and visitors to the country.
The NIPR helmsman, while commending the NSA and the Chief of Defence Staff who were the Chairman and Special Guest of Honour respectively at the event for upholding the sanctity of human rights in the discharge of their duties, expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as the lack of adequate reportage of the professional exploits of the security services, especially by the foreign media.
He called for a fair rating of Nigerian military’s human rights records and urged global rights bodies to highlight the many initiatives introduced by the military to foster robust civil-military relations, especially in the area of corporate social responsibilities, which have positively impacted communities in the country in the areas of education, health care service, and social welfare.
Also in his remarks, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, reiterated the country’s readiness to host the WPRF , noting that all security machinery were in place to ensure the protection of delegates from across the globe who will participate in the public relations event.
Idris, a Fellow of NIPR, stressed that the Federal Government has made huge investment in human capital development and empowerment of citizens, thereby reducing unemployment-related social vices, creating wealth and boosting the economy, a development, he said, has made towns and cities much safer.
He also stressed that the President Bola Tinubu administration has procured modern equipment to support the efforts of the security forces to keep the country safe for economic and social activities to thrive.
“Most importantly, both the environment and economy are safe for visitors and investors wishing to tap into the huge resources that our dear country is blessed with. As you are aware, the President recently set up a new team at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, and among other things, the aim is to increase production and save costs.
“Apart from ensuring that we maintain fiscal congruence, our government has committed to stabilizing the economy so that the private sector will find it attractive to invest”, he
The Minister assured that Nigeria will treat WPRF participants and indeed all visitors to a memorable rich hospitality that reflects the country’s warmth and receptiveness.
