WPRF Reaffirmation of Nigeria's Stature as Partner for Peace, Shared Progress — Minister

Published on March 9, 2026

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris says hosting of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja 2026 will reinforce the position of Nigeria as a responsible partner in driving narratives that deepen peace and create the right atmosphere for citizens to prosper.

The Minister who made the declaration at a colourful ceremony October 2025 in Abuja to mark the national unveiling of the WPRF said the November 2026 ceremony in the nation's capital is more than a global conference, but opportunity to present Nigeria as a model of transformation through communication.

"Hosting this global event will reaffirm that Nigeria is not only the communication hub of Africa but also a responsible global partner in shaping narratives for peace, prosperity, and shared progress", he noted.

He expressed delight with the choice of the theme, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World”, which he said is both essential and timely, as responsible communication is not just about what is said but how, why, and to what extent it is said. According to the Minister, it is about truth, empathy, and service to the public good, values that also serve as moral compass for social transformation.

He said as the host of this global event, Nigeria with its over 200 million population and peculiar dynamism is assuming a leadership role on the global stage of professional communication, highlighting that under the current administration at the federal level, communication is being repositioned as a tool for unity, accountability, and nation-building.

While thanking Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA), under the distinguished leadership of Professor Justin Green for establishing the WPRF, the Minister said the brand has continued to gain global momentum as a platform for dialogue and expression.

He expressed hope that the national unveiling will serve as a call to conscience, even as he advised practitioners to hold the line of truth, media to inform with integrity, public officers to communicate with transparency and citizens to speak with empathy.
